, a christmas surprise no one wished for. a tornado caught on video as it touched down right this city center. emergency management officials say the twister left lots of damage in its wake blowing out first and second floor windows at the mobile infirmary medical center and the roof at the high school. so far no injuries or death, but wit trees and power lines down tens of thousands are without electricity. one store sent customers scrambling for cover. >> one customer looked out the window and said there's actually a tornado coming. i looked out and you could see the sparks flying and debris flying around. i got everybody together, about seven customers. everybody huddle around we need to go to the back. >> i probably hurt my baby grabbing her and huddling for protection. there was no time. >> reporter: it was a massive storm system that stretched across the nation. earlier a tornado touched down in mcneil, mississippi and several people suffered minor injuries. in texas, one near crockett decide to livestock feed store and high winds toppled trees killing a driver trying to remove another

'll keep our fingers crossed. thank you, dillon. folks outside the upstate new york city of rochester are still in shock in morning after a twisted holiday tragedy that will left two firefighters dead and two others hospitalized christmas eve. chris pallone has this one. >> reporter: a sleepy vacation community northeast of rochester, new york, is in shock after a gunman lured firefighters to a neighborhood and shot them. investigators in webster, new york, say four firpths responded to reports of a house and car on fire around 5:30 monday morning. two in a fire truck, two others in their own cars. >> it appears that it was a trap, that there was a car and a house that were engulfed in flame. >> one of the men was able to retreat to safety after being s.w.a.t. a s.w.a.t. team in an armored vehicle retrieved the other three. toe tas kaczowka and mike chiapperini were dead. police evacuated at least 30 people from the area and seven homes were damaged or destroyed. the shooter was found shot dead near the scene. police say he killed himself identified as william spengler, a man with a l

a wide funnel cloud is filmed barreling across the city. lightning flashing inside, like giant christmas ornaments. they were spawned from a snowstorm from all the way in california. triggering these explosions. the midtown area of mobile fully blacked out. lit only by the lights of police cruisers. across the region, over 250,000 people without power. >> we've had some moderate to minor injuries. to this point, there's been no deaths reported. judging by some of the damage we witnessed today, it's a miracle. >> reporter: dazed residents pick through the debris, as rescuers check for people still trapped in the rubble. the winds mana s mangling the antebellum homes here. and it's not over yet, sam. a high wind warning is in effect. we talked about the breadth of the damage coming through last night. the only lights for miles around were those of police flashers. the power crews that were out last night are still working trying to get power back to the hospital. they haven't even begun to clear main roads in downtown mobile. and all of this weather is punching through to georgia, the caro

on tonight, and right now though it's a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain through oklahoma city and dangerous thunderstorms with reports of pea-sized hail and you can see the lightning strikes popping up across dallas, texas into she haveport and all this energy sliding northeast. a lot of moisture coming up from the gulf that's just enhancing it. what does that mean for today? we don't have a tornado watch yet, but i anticipate we'll see one for this afternoon, especially for the areas highlighted in the brighter orange color. good risk for a moderate risk for the risk of tornadoes, hail and possible damaging winds. some of these winds could get up to 50 miles per hour or greater. if it's not enough where we have the lightning and thunder and rain we also have dense fog. make it any more dangerous to see if there e's debris blown apart. this is really tough this morning for those that are traveling. be very careful with the fog out there and snow building in later today and tonight. a real mess for this christmas. i hope everyone can stay inside as much as possible. >> lots for

. haywood, union city, about to move into san ramone. solano scattered rain to report for this part of the bay area. bulk of the activity in the southern third of the bay area. you can see development out to the west. the yellows and reds, indicating the increase in the rainfall rates san jose to sunnyvale. out toward campbell, blossoo m hill road. increase in the rainfall and the possibility of hail with some thunderstorms. keep that in mind at least in the short term. as far as temperatures, its cool. mainly in the 40s to around 50. santa rosa in 40. haywood 48 and san jose around 46 degrees. forecast for today, cool showers this morning, we will hold on to the chance of showers right on in to the afternoon with temperatures only maxing out in the low to mid50s. yesterday's storm, that cold front, today we have the speckled clouds off shore. that's a signature of cold unstable air and that will sweep in to the area for today. we will hold onto the sun, passing clouds and heavier downpours. here is the forecast model, 10:00 showing you scattered rain showers, it's doing a good job

of the bill, a health clinic in the city of sunrise, florida, as the william "bill" kling v.a. clinic. william passed away sadly on august 6 at age 84. my deepest appreciation goes out to the committee on veterans' affairs and chairman miller who is a great friend from the state of florida, for supporting this effort and helping it to come to the floor. bill was a member of our greatest generation of americans, serving our nation in the navy during world war ii. but this was far from over when he returned from war. in fact, it was just beginning. bill claims -- became our strongest advocate and helping generations of veterans as they returned to civilian life. he worked tirelessly to make sure our veterans were getting the benefits they deserved, from education to quality health care through our v.a. system. i'm sure our florida colleagues will tell you that bill was a force to be reckoned with, pushing the urgency of the issue at hand. i know he will be sorely missed. in particular, my thoughts and prayers goes out to bill's family, including his daughter. i had the distinct pleasure, mr. spe
